STUDENTS FINDING THEIR PATH

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? People often contemplate this question. Another question parents are pondering today is if children should go after their passions and their path will follow, or should parents influence their children's interests for a more financially lucrative outcome? Or perhaps there should be a hybrid model to explore.

Children and teens often wonder what they will do when they "grow up". Sometimes through play and activities, they find their passion. Often it's short lived, but eventually they find something they love, and might even become obsessed with it. This is a career path they could consider.

If your child plays with toy cars, has a great imagination, and talks about cars often, there are several paths for them to consider depending on their aptitudes. They could contemplate a career as an auto mechanic, one who customizes cars with paint, lighting, plus various audio and mechanical accessories, an automotive designer, or perhaps an automotive engineer.

Another route is at an early age introduce your child to an interest that you enjoy or think would be a possible career match for them. For example, teach them how to make lunch, then work your way up to how to prepare your best meal, and maybe they will consider a career in the food industry as a food photographer, cook, owner of a food truck, or a chef.

Whether they discover their path by watching television or are influence by you or a family member, the more experiences your child has, the more options they can eliminate and/or discover.
